Research: Commercial Conventions Of Staedtler
For my commercial, I’m doing an eraser commercial for the brand ‘Staedtler.’ Staedtler is a popular art & stationery brand. The audience tends to see drawings and characters engaging in art-related activities. These are the following commercial conventions:
Props include paper, pencils, and erasers displayed clearly in the frame.
They tend to have drawings done by the actors made with a particular product, such as color pencil, shading pencils, fine liners, etc.
They are typically close up shots of the characters’ hands and their drawings, along with the particular product they’re advertising.
Tends to have establishing shots of the setting and characters.
There are mid-shots of the characters.
A common camera angle is a high angle. These angles showcase the paper and the medium or product being used.
Staedtler commercials tend to use high-key lighting, in order to display the product and its logo in a clear manner.
The camera showcases the Staedtler logo clearly to the audience. An actor may hold it towards the camera.
Some of the common settings in Staedtler commercials tend to be a studio, workplace, and even one’s home.
Common themes surrounding Staedtler products tend to be drawings made with the products being advertised.
Some common characters include children and adults. Children tend to be advertised colorful products such as color pencils, ink pens, etc. Adults tend to be professionals that use products like Staedtler, they may be architects, artists, office workers, etc. Adults and children tend to interact with one another when drawing.
There's upbeat music and non diegetic sounds of narration.
