Editing Blog: Finalizing Everything
In this day, I've finalized everything-- to editing and filming.
Before I dumped my footage of all of my footage, I first discarded any takes that weren't necessary or good enough for this project. Then I uploaded all of my final shots onto Google Drive, so I can access the footage through my iPad in the Google Drive app. For some reason my footage wasn't synching up to my iCloud Drive, so google drive was the next option in getting my footage in. Once everything was uploaded, I dumped all of my footage to iMovie, and organized everything in sequential order in the timeline. I inserted the song 'Crazy Now' by Aerial East onto the timeline in iMovie as well.
Everything relatively felt like working with a puzzle. I just arranged the scenes together, cross-referencing the storyboard to put everything in order. I then clipped certain clips that were excessively long for watchable speed and for other necessary clips to be implemented in this music video. I mostly clipped the time of the start and end of each shot, as they either started or ended too long . For example, with the bacon and eggs scene, the footage took about 10 seconds, so I narrowed it down to almost 6 seconds, clipping the start and end of the take, so other necessary footage, like the pan of me walking to the stove will be implemented onto the music video.
In terms of transitions, since the cut in between each take were cutaways, I didn't have the need to add too much transitions in between every single scenes onto the timeline. However, I still added some transitions, which were dissolve transitions. These transitions only occurred in scene that had no relation to one another. For example, the mascara scene, I only put the dissolve transition once all the takes necessary was done, it was then I would put a dissolve transition, which leads to the bacon & egg scene.
Once the takes and transitions were added, I played the whole video multiple times to make sure everything made sense and effective with the music. If something looked a little off, I would either clip or extend the time of the clips necessary for the whole video to be finalized. This whole process just went back and forth, watching the video and making adjustments when necessary. And this concludes the editing process.
