About the Creator
Hello! My name is Mariel Ilagan, I'm in the 11th grade and I love creating in general. My interest extends to drawing, painting, fashion, filmography, and photography. Creativity is a skill I want to expand upon throughout my interests. I think my interest demands creative decisions and artistic risks, and that's probably why these are my interests: I love to be creatively challenged. I would say that art is something that is a huge part of my identity. It's essentially what is distinctive about me. I have a passion for creativity and I think it will continuously grow throughout my lifetime.
AICE Media Studies initially caught my eye as I was always interested in creative media. Whether it be drawing, photography, film, or animation, it consistently occupies my mind. Media requires a challenge to the creative eye, and problem solving to execute an artistic vision; that challenge excites me and continuously motivates me to create. I'm also taking this class to expand my knowledge for artistic endeavors, such as learning composition, lighting, colors, etc; and how these components have a relationship to tone, mood, & aesthetics of media. This knowledge could help me grow as a creator & artist. And I'm all up for growth in creativity.
Looking forward, I hope to meet my goals with this class and gain a new perspective in artistic endeavors. Film isn't something that I'm familiar with, I took a recent interest in film ever since quarantine started. I started watching many films and video essays regarding film throughout quarantine, and that sealed my passion for film. My next step towards this passion was creating aspect of film, AICE Media Studies and my teachers will help guide me to creating. Film, to me, is a moving artwork or painting. Composition, lighting, colors, emotions are intertwined in film and painting, and I think that's why my passion for film became strong, creating art is a huge part of who I am; therefore, film is something that will grow in my interests & passions.
